DLS Updates – Firm Article October 2017

90 Years of Continuous Service

This year marks our 90th year of continuous operation.

On behalf of everyone at DLS, I thank our many thousands of clients, past and present, for entrusting us with their legal needs.

I also thank the many financial planners, mortgage brokers, valuers, accountants and other advisors who have referred their clients to us for advice.

While we are very proud of our past achievements, we are firmly focussed on our future.

We are constantly reviewing our service offering to ensure we meet the requirements of our clients.

Our lawyers spend many hours each year updating their knowledge and improving their legal skills.

We are also continuously improving our practice management and back office operations so that we can deliver our services as efficiently, and cost effectively, as possible.

Our aim is not only to provide high quality, cost effective legal services - every law firm in the country strives for that. We want to exceed your expectations - so much so that we become Your Legal Advisors for Life.

For us, that means the following.

Ensuring a broad service offering.

Our core areas of practice have remained the same over the past 90 years -

• Commercial, Property and Finance Law
• Wills and Estate Planning; and
• Dispute Resolution

We also have specialist teams in emerging areas of law – including land tax advisory and contested estates litigation.

We are constantly improving our service offering. We have for instance recently launched DLS Property Solutions - a property maintenance, management and refurbishment service – to assist our clients who own residential and commercial properties.

Retaining experienced and talented lawyers.

A number of our lawyers have been in practice for more than 25 years. Some are accredited specialists. This has given each of them a very deep legal understanding, as well as very considerable experience, in their areas of expertise.

Giving you direct access to our lawyers.

We have a very flat organisational structure – meaning you have direct access to the lawyers handling your matter.

Offering value for money.

We use the latest practice management and precedent management systems, and outsource much of our non-legal work, to keep our costs down.

We are happy to offer fixed fees on a range of matters (such as conveyancing). Where this is not possible we offer highly competitive hourly charges.
Giving advice you readily understand.

Our lawyers give uncomplicated advice you will understand. Documents are drafted in plain English.

Being more than just lawyers.

Clients need more than legal advice. They need trusted advisors - who don’t just offer pragmatic and commercial solutions but are sensitive and understanding in their approach.

Remaining connected.

We want to remain connected with you. To that end, we have refreshed our website and have commenced DLS Updates. We have also recently established a LinkedIn site for the firm. Our aim is not only to bring you legal articles of interest in our areas of practice but to remain in touch.

Thank you once again for your ongoing support.

We hope you find our newsletter informative and beneficial. I would appreciate your feedback or any suggestions for future articles.
