Objections relating to 2004 assessments
- The current NSW land valuation system was the subject of intense scrutiny in the
1999 Walton Inquiry initiated by the NSW Carr Government.
- That Inquiry found deficiencies in the valuation system and in the objection procedure
generally. A number of reforms to the system have been instituted by the NSW government but
the main thrust of the report, calling for significant reform, has not been embraced by the
NSW government.
- In our view, every land tax payer should consider lodging an objection to their 2004
land tax assessment. This applies to owners of residential, commercial or industrial property.
